Nanostream 6045 magnet not working on 12mm glass

I bought 3 of these over the last couple months for my new tank that just arrived. They have been in my existing tanks but when I tried mounting them in the new one the magnets do not hold through the glass. I double checked the manual and it does say up to 12mm glass, which is why I bought them a couple months ago. I know something doesnt sound right since all 3 of them have the same issue but I measured the glass and reconfirmed with my tank builder and it is 12mm glass. I realize Tunze does sell the 6025.501 but it will cost me close to $100 to get three of them. Its not that expensive but I bought these based on their ability to work on 12mm glass. I probably would have gone with 2 streams of the next size up if I knew this might have been an issue. What can be done here?

12mm is the limit of the holding power. It will work but with some limitations-

1) The rubber feet must be installed on the magnets, most people think these are to protect the glass, they actually are to increase the hold, they act much like the feet of a gecko and stick to the glass preventing any sliding.

2) The pump has to be more or less aimed straight across, a sharp angle will affect how well they hold.

If you upgraded the external magnet with the 6025.501 extension, you would have more than enough holding power, it would be suitable to 15mm. I am not sure of pricing in Australia but in the US your total should be closer to $75, in fact you could save a bit more by buying 1 6025.501 and 1 6025.500 (which is 2 6025.501 in a set and rated to 19mm) and just split the 6025.500, that would be around $62 US.
