Naperville Reef club

Hey guys I have been out of the game for a little bit and I am looking to get back in. I work in Naperville and am looking to set up a 180 for the high school. Does anyone know of a club out that way? I would love to see if anyone would want to help out with some frags. There is an after school club there that wants to start aqua culturing and funding further eco. projects for the school and surrounding neighborhood.

dry goods: have about 20 years worth of extra fittings, sumps, powerheads, some icecap 250 ballasts, insane amounts of lockline from a closed loop setup...if any of those help would be glad to donate.

if you could post up a wish list I bet a lot of people have stuff collecting dust and would contribute

i can donate some button polyps, candy canes, hammer, some extra live rock, and once its more stable have some elegance frags growing out but they are not really a good mix with a new tank setup.

im not on rc often these days, but post up or send a pm if any of this would be helpful.

Ok so here is the latest.

The move date has been pushed back to the second of next month. The lights are a year and a half old and the tank has about 35% of its rock covered in GSP.

Also the tank currently has a sand bed and during the move I would like to remove all of it and run the tank bare bottom but I am worried about disrupting years of ditritus build up. I also hear that the sand does play a part in buffering alk. If I remove all the sand and just drip kalk will i have an issue?

Lastly, with changing lights that are so old I feel I am going to have a problem with shocking the corals. I think i am going to run the lights as they have been running but make a few hour gaps of MH light during the day and slowly fill them in over the course of two weeks. So the MH would run 9am to 11am then off until 3pm then back on until 5pm. Does any one see a problem in that approach to reintroducing proper spectrum to the tank.

I was wondering if anyone would like to help with the move this weekend? It will be on 11/9 we are moving it to Naperville North HS starting at about 9am. We have a lot to do and will be needing some helpful tips from anyone experienced in big moves. This is our first this size and we are worried we are forgetting something. Also, we have a set of LED DIY lights on their way and have no previous experience with using them in conjunction with an apex so if anyone knows LED's or apex systems well please drop me a line or if you have some time stop by the high school on Saturday.

Also, we are currently in the market for a new skimmer to service 200 gal, our current skimmer is a SRO1000 int. So if you know of anyone that has one to get rid of please PM me.

Thanks allot

also looking for an RODI unit that would do well with the Naperville Lisle water supply, something that will take out chloramines
