Napoleon Maori Wrasse

Haha..I was thinking the same thing that he bought one somehow!! The coolest thing about those fish is they always strike me as one of the most supremely confident creatures on the planet. You see lions and 10 foot sharks that are more skittish than a Napolean Wrasse

Do any public aquariums have any? I can't recall, I thought maybe there was one in the whale shark tank at the GA?

Is the Napolean wrasse the same as a Humphead wrasse?

If so, then yes Peter - there are a few of those in there.

that's a sad picture - is it real???

question - is there a related wrasse similar in looks and temperament that is suitable for larger home aquariums, say 180 to 240 gallon tanks?

HAHAHA..there is no way thats real!!! Who could even afford to feed that beast. Guess you could feed it a chicken a day or something

It looks pretty real to me and based on the picture i would guess hes for sale for someones dinner. Looks like some kind of fish market on the street. :sad2:

That is a real picture, I was with the photographer when that one was took in a fish market in Hong Kong, back in 2007. These guys are in real trouble due to overfishing (listed as Endangered in the IUCN Red List), and people in Hong Kong will pay big bucks for their lips :(

Oh, as far as similar wrasses, there are several that don't grow that large in the genus Cheilinus.

Not really looking, thanks. But I do like the look of the Cheilinus wrasses better. I have a 210, and all the fish are long term, and all is harmony. I don't want to mess it up by adding another fish...
