NARC June Meeting

I think we are pretty good on food! If you want to bring a couple of 2 liters that would be great.

Well to tell you the Truth we use to have a Jack and a Jenny. Now we just have a Jenny. But I still call her an *** half the time :)

Monica, you gave me a couple frags of Kenya at the last meeting and they did not take. I would like to try it again if you can spare any, I would be glad to buy a couple more. Any one have any mushroom or other soft coral frags on the market?

Does anyone know if CRA will be open tomorrow and if so what time do they open? I figure I might as well check them out while I am up there.

Will,
How about some ice? I can pick up a big bag at twice the ice on my way over if you need some. I'm bringing some soft drinks as well.
Frag wise I've just got some anthelia and possibly a small monti digi.
Hope to see everyone there,
Mariner

We are bringing some frags also. Don't know what they are called but it is a dark green polyp with brown skirts. I think that I have four of those for whoever wants some.

I want to get some of the Anthellia. Also if anyone brings xenia, Kenya etc., I need some for my 20 gallon.

Karen is finishing up her cake now, make sure that you try it because it is really good. See ya'll around 1.

do well in my tank they do. Sell it to me you will?

LOL, your Jedi mind tricks will not work on me young Skywalker!
j/k The digi is orange. I'll bring you a little piece...and some Anthelia for Gcamp.

Thanx to Shannon and Will. The new addition to your house is awesome! The BBQ was delicious as usual. We enjoyed seeing you folks again and meeting some new ones.

Great meeting! Great to put some more RC names with faces!
Thanks for the hospitality Will and Shannon. Ya'll have an amazing place, and Will's tanks are just ideal examples of how to do things right.
Thanks for the demo and the frags Harry!
And thanks to everyone who supplied food -- YUM!

Thanks for all the compliments! All you guys n gals are very welcome. We had fun and glad so many could make it. Thanks to everyone who brought stuff. It seems like I've been eating all day :eek2: Big thanks to John @ CRA for the Fish and H@rry for his frag demo/ coral donations!

I tried to answer everyones questions about my setup, but was a little busy so if you didn't get an answer or even get to ask the question lol Just PM me or post here.

I had a few people ask about My Kalk Stirrers. Here is a LINK To the ones I got.

Me and Shelby talked about CA reactors a little. My DIY one under my 180 is built alot like THIS Geo I ment to get my other DIY reactor out that I plan on using on my 92 but I just forgot lol

Great meeting. Been out to Will's place three times now and every time there is something new. Love the pond too!!!

Here is a question, are Ca reactors much better then topping off with Kalkwasser?

I wouldn't really say better.. They both have their good and bad points..

CA reactors have the advantage of once they are setup they are pretty hands off. Plus you can adjust them to keep your tanks ALK and CA pretty consistent. The bad is they are Pretty $$ to get started. Even with a DIY reactor the Co2 setup alone 250.00 or so. They also tend to lower your Tanks PH so if you have low Ph to begin with probably not a good choice.

Kalk Reactors on the other hand are pretty cheap to get going and very easy to setup for the most part. All you need is food grade lime and the reactor.. Or for that matter you can just mix the lime with your top off and even skip the reactor. The draw backs with a Kalk Reactor are you can't really tune them to keep your tanks Alk and CA constant, since the amount of Kalk you dose depends on your Evaporation and not what you set it for. Kalk Will raise your tanks ph fast so if you have High ph to begin with its probably not a good choice.HTH

The going trend for awhile was to use a combined system: CA reactor and a Kalk reactor or a CA reactor and an auto top-off with lime spiked water. I don't know if the view has changed lately or not. You have supposedly the best of the both world this way. I run CA reactor with llime spiked top off water. Once they are dialed in, it's pretty hands off. I don't have a pH controller, but pH seems to stay constant despite CO2.
