I bought a Blonde Naso about 3 weeks ago and put him in QT. I also put 2 misbar black clowns in there to keep him company. I'm a breeder so I have plenty on hand. In the past I've found Tangs get lonely so I figured why not. A couple days ago I saw he started developing black spots on his sides. It wasn't ich (they appeared to be a pigment change not something attached although they were very small) so I wasn't too concerned. His eyes were clear and he was active / eating. Last night he didn't eat but I figured it was because lights out is usually 9pm but last night it was closer to 10 by the time I got down there. I figured he was starting to go to sleep. This morning I turned the lights on and saw he was in major trouble. He was breathing faster than normal and was laying on the bottom (which he often did but woke up pretty quick) The clowns have slimed up now and appear to have early symptoms of brook. They looked fine last night. I immediately did a 50% water change but he died shortly after. I've started formalin treatment for what appears to be Brook but he never slimed up.. Although I don't know that a Tang is capable of sliming either. Any ideas? My guess is Brook. I want to see how the clowns react to the formalin as well but I don't know that they can ever go back into growout. I can't risk 2000 fish for 2.
