I recieved a Naso Tang and recieved it last Tuesday. Order number a2544354. This is the first time and will be the last time I order fish from you. The tang will not eat. Nothing no way no how. It is loosing weight and only a matter of time before he dies. It angers me that you would ship a fish out that is not eating. Any suggestions before I loose the fish??????????

first off make sure the tang is not being harrased and stressed so it wont eat
second try leaving nori for the tang as that makes up a main part of its diet and tangs will eat this easier then frozens
thired try to soak your your frozen food in garlic as this entices the tang to eat
hope he makes it

Hey I know they will resolve the situation for you but in the mean time my advice is, check your water parms, monitor the fish to see its behavior and how the other fish react to it, and also try the following foods as they all work for me, and i have about 10 tangs myself

Ocean Nutrition green seaweed very good
Spectrum new life pellets
HIkari marine A
Ocean nutrition Formula 1
mysis

I am sure they did not purposely send you a sick fish, sometimes fish don't do well during shipping or don't accimilate to a tank well.
I had a coral come in this past friday that was about 50% dead when I opened up the bag but everything else they sent me was fine. But it must have just been strssed from shipping, and there is nothing that can be done in that regard.

By the way you should not post personal info like your order number for your own sake, you should PM or email that type of info IMO.

gigi4539,

We understand your concern and apologize that the Naso Tang is not eating. We would like to assure you that we make sure, prior to shipping, every fish is eating. The foods used in our aquatic facility are the Gamma Frozen Foods and sheet algae. Sometimes when new fish are added into an established aquarium they may need more time to acclimate to their new surroundings. When feeding you may wish to spread the food throughout the length of tank to make sure the tang has an equal opportunity to consume the food.

We agree adding Garlic Xtreme and/or a good liquid vitamin to the food may help. If you have a quarantine tank we also recommend placing the tang in it to help restore him to good health. We will be shipping an appetite enhancer and a vitamin supplement to arrive for you on Tuesday at no additional charge. The order reference number is 18049483 and we will email tracking information when the package is shipped. We hope these products help and thank you for working to save your tang.

Your satisfaction is very important to us. We encourage you to let us know if there is anything else we can do to make your first experience better. Please keep us posted regarding your progress with your tang. If we can be of additional assistance in trying to coax your fish into eating or any other concerns, please contact our LiveAquaria Department at 1-800-334-3699, via email at customerservice@liveaquaria.com, or PM us.

Gwen,

Thanks for the reply. I have ordered ALOT of corals from you folks at live aquaria and EVERYTHING as far as corals go has been wonderful. That is why I decided to try mail order fish. I feel sorry for the fish and do not want to see it parish. I am not looking for anything free I just hate to see this fish die. I guess I have learned that I should just buy fish local as it is less stress for the fish in transit then to add it to a new tank adds to it. Thanks for the advice and vitamins and appitite enhancer. I do say that you are the greatest for corals. Thanks for the reply!

gigi4539,

We are glad we could help, as we would very much like to see your fish survive as well. Thank you for your compliments regarding our corals. We are pleased your coral experiences have been wonderful ones. In regard to ordering fish we would like to say we are doing our best to make fish and coral care, including proper shipping, a science. The less a fish is handled, the better chance the fish has of remaining in good health. Please consider placing at least one more order for fish, before making your final decision. We truly respect your choices and wish you the best in your aquarium keeping whatever you choose.
