Nassarius Q and a black emerald crab

Hi all,

Mark here. Started a 40b about 8 weeks back after considerable prep (have a continuing post going in 'New to the Hobby Forum') and have a couple questions regarding the cuc introduced over the weekend.

1) I have a small 5g fuge with a 3-5" sand bed. There's a nerite wandering around in there. Over the next few days they'rll be some chaeto in there. Should I drop in a nassarius to keep the bed moving? If so, will it be detrimental to any anaerobic bacteria building up?

2) Put in an emerald crab a few days ago. He's been going nuts on the diatoms on the rock. He's also turning black - the back half of his shell is still bright green, as are his legs, but his front half is now jet black. He is definitely an emerald crab and is definitely in the process of changing color.
Perhaps I may have put him in too early and this change in color may be due to lack of algae?
Is it because he's gorging himself on a newly cycled tank?
I've found a few posts but no solid info on this. Anyone have any thoughts?
I'm thinking about supplementing seaweed tomorrow.

My thanks in advance for any thoughts, advice, or experiences,

Mark

Going to try to catch the guy/gal, and get a good shot of it before banishing to fuge. Will post. If any has any info in interim, would appreciate.
Cheers,
Mark
