Natural Sea Water

Does anyone hear use Natural Sea Water in their tanks from the Gulf Shores. I have seen where people who live close to the ocean use Natural Sea Water and has had great luck.

The water along the beach in Gulf Shores seems to be pretty polluted and I wouldn't recommend using it. It seems most of the time the wind blows west to east which brings in water from Mobile Bay. If you're down there in a rare spell of east to west winds, the water is much cleaner. But even then, I don't think I'd use it.
I bet if you could go out a few mile and get some water, that would be fine. Who knows what beach water has in it though =/

I went to Destin a few weeks ago and brought home 15 gallons of gulf water for water change saw a huge reduction in bad algeas and everything else seemed to be healthier afterwards.

Thanks, does any local Alabama fish stores sell the Natural Sea Water.

I know some lfs in florida that are right along the ocean sell Natural Sea water.

When I lived on Dauphin Island, I used natrual seawater in my FOWLR. I allways got my water offshore though. I would get it when I was out fishing. Everything in the tank did fine and I had no algea outbreaks. I don't know if I would use beach water in a reef tank.

I wish I lived closer to the beach, that would be a great experiment to set up two identical tanks one with water from the beach and one with artificial salts. Then just sit back and see what happened over a years time.
