So let me start by saying I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes here but this forum is about sharing our experiences in reef keeping and this sub forum is about experiences in our local area,, so a few weeks ago I was excited to here about a new shop in our area (vestal) do I went to check it out, super clean tanks great fish selection and lots of colorful lps, the guy I talked to said something along the lines of them buying in on the shop relocating it and doin things a little different from the old co owners he nice and helpfull even offering to sell me one of their snowflake clowns in their display because they didnt have any in stock but I was only window shopping at the time, fast forward to last week I took a buddy of mine there who's doing more of an lps tank but I decided to grab a frag well I was there, they had some birdsnest that was a little brown but had blueish polyps and green tips so thought I'd give it a try to see if it would color up in my tank they said it came from an employes tank when I cashed out it came to like 43 bucks! And I said wait a minute it says 24.99 over there the older guy(assuming that's the old owner) said no it's an acropora it's $40 I took him over and showed him those frags were in three different tanks that said 24.99 his response was "oh they just put them all over the place it's an acropora/war coral (?) it's 40 I said I wasn't paying that and left and prolly won't go back for along time, like I said not trying to upset anyone just venting my experience that upset me, especially after he wasn't willing to come down on the price and even told me that it just came from one of their employes tanks, like I said just venting not bashing but 45 bucks for a birdsnest...

Sorry about the way this was typed my phone keeps adding letters or auto correcting the wrong things but I think my point gets across

Sorry about that

Sorry about that

Hi,
First off let me disclose that I am an owner of this business. I took a look at the RC terms just now and I'm thinking it's still ok if I post.

Your right, $40 for the birdsnest frags is not correct. In fairness, the individual you dealt with was unaware of this so he went by what he thought was correct. We'll have no problem making this right next time we see you. Sorry for the confusion. :)

Wow...

Nature sold? Is Rick still part of it, or did he leave completely? I remember when they had a massive store, with a really cool parrot, by K-Mart in Endicott.

That's where I started this crazy hobby. With a bunch of Damsels, a Yellow Tang, a HOB filter and two UGF Powerheads. And some so-so advice from Rick. :) He was, however, very contentious of your animals' lives; he swore me off a Mandarin until I had enough LR to support pods. Taught me about inter-animal aggression, etc. Some people didn't, but I always got along with the guy.

My Ex-Wife's family is right down 26 from there; used to stop in from time to time when I was visiting them. Not a bad store for the size of the area; and I always though healthier than the place on Front St.

Where are you considering moving to?

oldimpala - Rick works there now. The new location is off the parkway in the Rano plaza. (Wise) Nice location, tons of $ invested, but now has other employees so you may not always get Rick. I hope it does well.

I've had similar issue but was corrected while I was there. Sounds like the same guy. I was quoted a price either through email or text from one of the workers only to get there and see a different price. Like I said though all I had to do was show him the email or text and all was good. There definitely needs to be a better way of pricing the corals. A suggestion would be using a highlighter on the glass in front of each coral. This store is my favorite store now and have bought quite a bit from there. Well worth the time I spend driving there. (Over an hour)

Still not sure were this store is located and would like to check it out. Were is the Rano Plaza?

Neoz - Off the parkway (434) Same side as Target. From Bingo go down 434 and past the Target plaza to the next left (Rano Blvd). There is a Dunkin right there on the corner. You will see the Weis plaza up above the Dunkin. Go up Rano and the plaza is the next Right. There is a parking lot on the left (not the Wies side out front) that you will see a small sign for Nature. Store is kind of dark looking from the outside even when open, but they have great hours now (I was there at 8 last night and they had a great selection).

Nature's best

Nature's best

I am so glad a true reef lover's store has come to the Binghamton area. I have enjoyed my experiences when I have bought livestock and supplies from the store. I will continue to look forward to my visits at Nature's Best.

Me tooooo!!!! I Love this store!!!!! I had the best time there! The people at Natures Best were so friendly and helpful. ALL of them were :) I just bought a new coral colony there today!!!! Love it! I am sure being a new store they are still ironing out the kinks (referring to original poster) but I had absolutely no problems there. Things are marked by tank and what they are and the prices. So glad to have them in this area!!!!

I am from way down in Florida. I visit the tier once a year and always make sure to stop in the this store. This year I bought 3 designer clowns and a GBTA, all made the 24 Hr. trip back to Florida and are healthy. This place is a great store and great people. Can't wait to go back next year and see what gems I can find.

Got some great ricordea there recently. :bounce3: Saw an awesome finger leather there too but didn't have any room in my tank for it :sad1:. It was gorgeous!

I stopped in yesterday for the first time since the move (I know, I'm a little late). Nice place. Small, but they had some really nice stuff there. The tanks looked so clean. All I got was a heater and a medium mag float. My heater had died a few days ago, and I really wanted to get the tank back up to temp before I put anything in it. I'll be sure to go again soon :)
