NC 24 stand

I'm looking at a used 24 gallon NC to downsize my larger tank into. Unfortunately it doesn't come with a stand. Does anyone have any ideas on what to use for a tank stand or have a random NC stand wandering around that they would be willing to part with?

Thanks!!

Hey Eddie!

Hmmmm.... I could build one if it came in a box with everything precut and directions like 'piece A attaches to piece B with doo dads 1 and 2' :fun4: Otherwise, like making from scratch... I'd be hopeless!

But I'm just looking for a stand to hold the tank, preferably with a solid back to hide the cords but otherwise, just a stand. A bookcase looking type thing would work or a cabinet type thing would work. I guess I'd prefer black but I could paint if I found something that would work that was a different color. I thought about just looking through yard sales but I'm afraid what I'd find wouldn't hold the weight of a 24 gallon tank.

does it have to be a stand? i have my 14g just sitting on my desk, and had a 75 on a buffet-type thing?

if you really want a "stand" stand, i just know of a couple places to buy one new. a used may be hard to come by without buying the tank too...

No, it doesn't have to be a "stand" stand. It can be anything. I was thinking of a bedside table type thing or bookcase but I'm worried about it holding the weight. Valid concern or am I just being paranoid?

If the bedside table or stand is made solid, not one of those fiberboard cheepies, should be fine. I have a 5g on one and a 20L on a dresser.

If you know your way around a table saw, I could show you how to build your own 24G nano cube stand like I built for my own. I think the cost ended up being about $100 for wood, stain, paint, and finish, but it looks pretty good.

But if you want instant gratification, I'd bet a decent nightstand dresser-like table would work. I know I'd trust the ones I have if my wife would agree to such a thing.

Heh heh. You don't want to see me use a table saw. I am barely competent (barely!). Plus I don't own one.

I think I'll go out looking for a cheap, sturdy bedside table type thing.

At the moment I'm still in tank hunting mode though so I'm not in any rush. Sigh...
