Questions about upcoming Frag event

Questions about upcoming Frag event

Hey All,

I am new to all this including saltwater aquariums. I have not yet set up my tank but I am researching and trying to learn as much as I can so that I dont fail. A friend recommended that I look up Reefcentral and find a local club and NCPARS seems to be the the closest club around. My friend also recommended that I attend the Fall Frag Swap. I will be there even if its to meet a few of the club members.

My question is...
Is the frag swap only about trading with other members or are members going to be selling things as well? Can someone give me a quick overview of what to expect duing this event? Like I said, I am new to this and I plan on having my aquarium running by that time. I still need a ton of items but I have been working on it. I also think this event will provide with valuable information on how to keep my fish healthy and my tank clean.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Al

Members will be selling things, corals dry goods etc...
you can view some items that are listed in advance on fragswapper.com just click on" ncpars fall frag swap" and then "listings" then the "all" button on the left of the page.
More info about our club can be found here
NCPARS
Membership info can be found at our web site under "shop ncpars button"

Thank you for your interest and welcome

Welcome to the obsession Al! The swaps are a lot of fun. Its a good opportunity to meet people from you area and discuss ideas and learn from each other. We will have lunch and a speaker, as well as a raffle. There will be plenty of corals for sale, but the good stuff usually sells first on fragswapper.com, so be sure to check that out as Dan mentioned. Even if you do not go to buy any corals, its still worth going to in my opinion.

Thanks for the information Joe, I agree! I can learn a whole lot from the club and I have already made plans to go there. I can't wait to start up my tank but I am taking it slow and I want to do it right the first time. Hopefully I will have my tank ready by then.

Hey Aaron,

Well I the sump tank ready to go and have been buying supplies. I still don't have the tank running. I still plan on attending the frag swap next month and hopefully I will have it running by then. I am going "that fish place" this weekend to pick some more things up. Give me a call if you need anything. I will be happy to get it for you. Thanks again Aaron

I just wanted to post real quick to let the folks out there know that I'll have some extra styrofoam coolers (2 or 3 I think) that I've been hanging on to. I don't want any money for them so long as they go to somebody that needs them for personal use. So if you hear some swap noob that forgot to bring one they can try to find me. :)

See you at the swap...there's a lot of amazing stuff listed out there..currently 336 unique items. Surprisingly only 200 pre-arranged trades so far but I'm guessing this last week that's going to change. I'm excited since this is the first swap in years when I actually have a tank running.
