It was good to see a lot of old faces and new ones at the frag swap yesterday.

I hope everyone had a good time. I know I did.

Thanks to Reefnest for organizing the fragswap.

Lets see some pictures of all the good stuff everyone snagged at the swap.

Still waiting for the lights to come on in the tank today to see how everything is doing.
The torch that we bought from Vickie is doing very well and isn't "torching" it's neighbors as of yet :)
I was actually most surprised by the yellow polyps we received from Kevin. He advertised them as generic yellow polyps but they are far brighter than the "generic yellow polyps" that we used to own. They look really great in our tank.
Thanks to all those that we traded with. Hope all of our corals are doing well in everyone else's tanks. I tend to worry about the little guys once I send them off to a new home. :)

I had a great time, as always! All my frags are doing great!

Most of the zoanthids are already open, and my actinics have only been on a short time! As soons as the halides come on, I'll snap pictures. I love the eagle eyes -- I've never seen them in person and they're more beautiful than I expected!

Thanks, Ricky and Kevin (and club) for the free frags! Bill, the zoanthids that you gave me are actually glowing bright orange under the actinics in my SH tank! What a surprise! You can see them from across the room! Thanks, Scott, for the frag of hydnophora (sp?) -- I'm anxious to see what shape it is going to take! If you decide to part with that sweet nano, let me know ;-)

Dyan, I'm glad your torch is doing well. The entire right side of my tank thanks you, but clowns were grumpy all morning :)

I can't wait until next time!

P.S Thanks alot to RandyO for cutting me a deal on the micromussa and NCPARS for the free frags

I had alot of fun fragging corals for all that attended this great swap. I have to say though my thumb is really swollen today from the cut I received from one of the acros. I am soaking it in epsom salts, lol. Should just use some tank water. HEHEHE I hope all the free frags made it and are doing well, most of my stuff is happy and open, I can not wait for the next swap.

thanks,

Rick

Just like to say thatnks to NCPARS for putting on a great meet. was great to chat with everyone. Grags look great!!!

Glad to hear the swap went well and all had fun. Unfortunatly due to work I did not get the chance to make it there. :(

Too bad you had to miss it. It was a good event with lots of corals available. There will be other events to enjoy.

I think I was most impressed with the number of vendor looking setups selling nothing but frags. As much as I think we need to support the good LFSs out there, I really go to the swaps for tank raised specimens. I came home with over 30. To see all the little mini-setups with tank raised corals made me feel like we finally had a swap that was were _I_ would want it.

I wanted to thank everybody for the good comments and especially Ricky for all his help at the fragging station and getting those corals. I'm not sure if you folks realize it or not but that was over $1000 retail worth of coral we gave away. With Ricky's help we paid next to nothing for it.

There were so many people there that put in an great effort..I'm not going to list names for fear of missing too many. :) But all-in-all everybody did their part and it was a great event. I do feel sorry though for the folks that got one of the SPS corals early if you didn't get a chance to come back. We had to start with very small pieces to make sure we didn't run out; but as the day went on, the frags got bigger. We wound up just giving away the leftovers to anybody that stuck it out until after the NCPARS meeting...actually I started giving stuff out BEFORE then. We gave the stumps (with a few remaining branches) to the school, so I'm curious to see how they recover.

Thanks again to everybody and good luck to the new board. Even though they don't technically start their positions until July 1st I think it's important to get rolling now.

...you know...I'll never remember all the people I need to thank....

I forgot to thank the folks that donated leathers and such to the free frag give-away. They were actually VERY popular..which I kind of expected with the beginners who come to these events that don't feel they're ready for SPS.

So thanks.

Fizz, My thumb is still swollen, and it hurts too! I have a hard time typing because it hurts to move it. I am soaking it again in epsom salt, LOL. Well I did have fun, and thanks Fizz for hanging out with me at the fragging station. We worked as a team pretty well I thought.

thanks,

Rick

Thanks to ReefNest and NCPARS for throwing a great meet.

And a thanks to all that brought me frags or bought frags from me. ;)

Thanks again to everyone that showed up for another great event... Everything went smooth and polished... Excellent team work...

Thanks to everyone that got some frags from me, and from the club. Without you the member. NCPARS could not have done this...
I hope my frags grow as well for all of you as they have for me... Grow them well, frag'em and share them around...

To the NY crew, nice rigs guys! Very impressive in all aspects... I wish I had more time to talk with all of you:thumbsup:

Randy, the A. efflo colony I got from you. Where did it's mother come from?

Thanks again to everyone!

It came from me. ;)

In 2001, a guy up here in Buffalo got 2 wild A.efflorescens colonies and put them both under PC lighting only. After a few months, one of the colonies was getting eaten by Emerald crabs. They were crushing the tips of the polyps. Not 100% sure they were eating them, but I saw them crushing the tips. So I inherited that colony. Today, that is my giant colony. It's more tan than the piece you got from me. That came from the other colony that this guy was growing under just PC's. I couldn't believe how well it grew for him, and had good color too. So, I ended up getting a small frag and turned it into a large colony in no time at all. It always had nicer color than the other colony. It can get real nice purple tips, with a greenish body.

Hope it does well for you Tim. If you need them, I have plenty of pics of when those efflos were young.

Hey guys, guess what? I have an infected finger! I am on keflex at 500mg 4 times a day. LOL guess that teaches me, trying to fight with an acro, I know for sure who wins now. LOL Even though it is infected, I am doing much better, the antibiotic has started to work and the swelling is going down.

Thanks,

Rick

P.S. typing is still hard to do with this darn finger being in pain!

Thanks to everyone who helped out and thanks to all who came and traded or purchased from me.

I thought it was a great event, even though Benjies dosen't pay the electric bill. lol

Here are some pix of the frags I picked up... My apologies ahead of time if the pix are too large :)
