NEA Visit w/ Behind-the-Scenes Tour

Pretty amazing seeing all the behind the scenes stuff. It kinda changes your perspective on the aquarium all together. They have such limited space to work with and do a very good job of craming it all in there. The back rooms of all the tanks are really small working spaces - and quite hot....think old Swamp Bottom temps/humidity to a way worse effect in a much smaller space. :D Fun none the less though. Getting to see the tank as a display first, than going around to the back checking out the life support systems, back sides and top views of all the tanks is pretty cool. Most of there in-wall display tanks are glass fronts and big fiber-glass/wood tubs for the actual tank. They also have tons of QT's and prop tanks mixed in among the back rooms.
I'm going to be putting alot of the pics into my gallery when I get a chance, so check up on my gallery soon....think couple days not hours...I'm doing tank plumbing for the rest of this weekend, so I can have my 72 up and going. ;)

Thanks for setting this up Chris, it was a great time. I'll PM you about the pics for newsletter ASAP.
BTW did anyone go back at 2 for the jellies reproduction stuff? I wanted too but Alexis was getting restless and we wanted to see the rest of the actual displays anyways.

We didn't. We saw the IMAX Deep Sea 3D movie. It was awesome. The 3D was incredible. We did see Bailey again while we walked around after the movie.

Yeah I saw him again too. At about 2:30 I ran into him by the big reef tank, he was cleaning the glass on it. :p I talked to him for a few minutes and thanked him for the tour. He said pleasure was his, and to come back anytime we wanted to do it again. Thats kinda what made me ask if yas went to the jellies thing, I figured if he was cleaning glass on tanks that the jellies thing didnt happen.

Wow....I'm jealous. Will definitely have to do this sometime. Can't wait for some pix and more info from your trip guys.
