need 48gal simmer recommendations

i'm in the market to buy a protein skimmer.


looking for a good one that can handle my new 48gal tank.

i don't have a sump, so i need one that can hang on the back.


any suggestions, or anyone have one for me?

As far as I know, the Aqua C Remora is one of the best hang-on skimmers that you can get. Unless you spring for a Deltec

I use the Remora Pro on my 75 gallon and I would definitely recommend it to anyone that needs a hang on skimmer.

Turbo-Floater Multi gets my vote. It Skims great and is affordable.

If you are DIY inclined....a cpr bac pac with needle wheel mod...or gen-x NW pump. Also check out the DIY forum for DIY MCE600...its no deltec, but it's a great little project.

We modified the impeller on our maxi-jet and it works great. We're also going to run a small genx RC externally. It should double it's performance.

thanks for the help guys.

part of me wants to make a sump for this tank, partly so i have more skimmer options, and also so i can make a nice refugium in it.

problem is, my space is 12" by 14".

i'm not sure what i could use for the sump, or if that size is really big enough.
