Need a Duncan doctor...

Received two rescue frags of Duncans a few weeks ago, one with 3 heads and one with one head. The single headed frag is maintaining and eating, but the tissue of the 3 headed frag continues to recede and will not take food. The tentacles & body are rather fat & bulbous in comparison to my other Duncans. Upon receiving the frag it was dipped in lugol's solution, cleaned of some algae & inspected. The tissue had already been receding for a bit. (Tank = Temp 78, PH 8.15, Alk 3.5meq/l, No3 0.5, Ca 435, Mg 1395, Po4 0)

I'm looking for some ideas of where to look next, clues, has anyone experienced something similar with Duncans? Thanks all

Still a novice w corals but having modest success w a Duncan. Have you considered another dip? Perhaps w Bayer Complete?

They were the first stony coral I ever had. I got it before I had a complete handle on suppressing pest algae. I can say they seem to be especially susceptible to irritation from algae. I had a few heads disappear but cleaned up the exposed skeleton with some peroxide and some of the polyps made a comeback. Good luck with yours.

This is what I was able to capture. You can see the 3rd head is now going...

The polyps looked colored well. I'm wondering if it's getting to much or not enough light. Tissue degradation can also happen if something is stinging it. This is my guess what is happening. What's growing around it?

If you look around the threads there is a range. I settled on 2 teaspoons per cup of tank water for 15 minutes. So far good results.

I ended up doing around 4ml/cup for 10ish minutes... We'll see what that does. Interesting thing, to me at least, I found an amphipod crawling/getting wrapped up in the tentacles today. There has been a lot of activity around these guys in terms of copepods, & such.

Why are you dipping in bayer? Do you suspect pests? The dip may just further stress this already stressed coral. It doesn't look too too bad in my opinion, might still be getting settled in.

Idk if you had a chance to read the back story but this frag has been settling in for a month +, pests are the only thing I can think of, yet don't see anything during night or day.
