Need a light controllable by ProfiLux?

Yea, new thread hopefully more interest.

So, probably a case of Corona and over 18 hours online since Friday, I've done some searching and research.

Todd and AQD have started me off and I'm pretty convince on the ProfiLux, but need to finish off with a light that can be controlled by it.

There is plenty of reference to it, but are ATI Powermodules dimmable or no?

Plenty of people are going rimless, so canopy's are a thing of the past, so can a T5 fixture as incredible as ATI, be dimmable?

There was reference to the ULTRA SOLARIS, but a comment back that they are indeed not dimmable. Plus, for rimless, not so sexy for an open display.

Help please, so I can get on my way of getting rid of this fixture and controller that I have, names won't be mentioned, that completely suck......

Ultra Solaris are dimmable for sure. They have to be special ordered.

It would take some doing to make it "sexy". A day or two and the right aluminum extrusions attached would do it.

The same could be said for the I bars, ingenuity is key here as you need to add the "sexy".

If you are into retrofitting also.

Most 54W T5 light fixtures can have dimmable ballasts retro fitted.

This now opens up your options even more :)

Since I have Todd and Michael? here.......
Todd I have more specific questions to our emails I will leave there.

To take full control of the ProfiLux lighting.....suggestions on equipment to build my own lighting.....please

Could I use the "54 watt dimmable ballast for use with Profilux" with some IceCap SLR Reflectors then find caps and wiring harnesses. Seems like it would give me more flexibility of bulb placement (or does that not matter using the controller options which could mean just go with the I bars? What about reflectors with the I bars?)

And what about bulbs? All for a 90g display with mainly softies, LPS, and only very easy SPS way up top....I assume people are getting great growth and colors from these setups.....

Thanks for helping me try to redesign my setup. Was going to go with ATI Powermodule before I learned about the ProfiLux. I have done a lot of research on light fixtures and the technology and testing that has gone into them. Now, again, in unfamiliar territory designing a canopy for proper lighting and ventilation.......

Hiya

We can supply through Todd a whole kit to make your won lights including end caps, dimmable ballasts etc etc. You can use any reflector you wish espcially if not using the I bars.

I will let Todd guide you on bulbs he is the coral king :)

I like where this is going......thanks

On your note, benefit of using I bars? Do you put reflectors on them? Suggestions on reflectors? Just heard a lot of hype for the Icecap is all....

I'm sure Todd will be chiming is at anytime and we can go over color combos.

For the canopy, what about venting? Have seen some Tanks of the Month, in the past, use a fan kit that vents with a hose right out the wall. That would really help my setup......

Hiya

The I bars can take any reflector really, Todd has had experience with this. I will get him to make contact with you if you can drop me an email address to sales@aqua-digital.com

Venting, well you can use the dedicated ProfiLux breeze fans, probably the best on the market

The Ice Cap reflectors will work on an I bar, they clear w/ about 1/8" to spare. I bars are a good way to go and 2 would be plenty for your 90.

on the other hand....

I have wired up the dimmable ballasts and found it to be very easy. You will need some 18gauge solid core copper wire and the EVG-AP-2F of course. A computer fan blowing across the bulbs is definitely a plus. A fan out the wall even better. Ballasts and interface cards are in stock. I bars would have to be ordered and they would arrive in August.

My color combo of choice for a 4 bulb fixture would be 2 Aqua Science 22k, 1 15k, and 1 Duo. The 22k really make the colors pop!!! I now have full stock of every bulb Fauna makes.

What reflectors do you use? Think I would go for the retro....Had to get there from another link(don't always see the Tunze and T5 links under products on your website), but see you have kits sometimes too. Could you put me together a retro kit, I guess I could get the wiring from Home Depot and such, but this will be big order from you (I will put together a new Profilux plan including Tunze pump for you tonight and email, so might as well get all I can in one stop.

Color combo.....Won't be to blue? Will I still get insane growth with the pop!!! I am about 90% there with my current light, but even wanted a little more blue. Mine is an 8 bulb and was thinking of a 6 ATI orginally, so if 4 will do it, my pocket would love it. Could always expand later.

Venting....ever see any kits set up for venting out the wall? Do you think canopy fans would have enough push to get the air flow out like a 4" duct? It would only be about 2 feet. This would get rid of the room temp problem I am having which caused me to ask for the equipment to control the AC from the Profilux in my email.

Continued Thanks for the patience.

Jason, Home depot won't have the exact wire you are looking for. Do a search online you find it cheap.

I can do a retro kit short the reflectors you will need. If you go with 6 bulbs on dimmable ballasts you can always dim two if you find it to bright.

You could add an inline duct fan(home depot) to draw the heat that the comp fan or breeze pushes towards the inlet of your 4" duct.

More questions......

Do you think a variable speed temp controlled fan w 120 CFM would be enough to move air through the canopy and out the duct?

Also, I assume the LED's are adding some. So, not for the slightest, am I questioning your suggestions, just asking if you think 4 would do it. Other research, knowing that opinions on the matter are way different, thought 6 with individual reflectors. I have 8 on a single and it seems to much. Gave me a lot of color options, and this is where it is well beyond my understanding, I do not know if I have too much PAR or to much intensity or what, but although colors are 90% pop and growing well, some thing just won't open that much.

Will you combo be pretty blue? I didn't want to blue, but if it is a MH replica then could get used to it as long as growth and pop were great. So can you get the shimmer with the LED sticks too?

Lastly, sorry, so can you send the kit info (minus fan, reflectors) to my email. I'll be sending my new controller ideas later.
