Need a little help!?!?!?

I just rearranged my 110 reef and I found a little piece of something that I am not really sure what it is. It looks like a small piece of pink ricordia. There are two that I have found just sitting on the bottom on my sand. They are about 1/4 inch big. I cannot get a good picture with the camera that I have. I know that would be helpful but I will explain what I know about it. My brother picked one of the up to get a closer look and it stuck to his finger. He also said that it started burning pretty bad. My question is what in the world is it? Is it good or bad? I will try and get some sort of a picture but it may be very good. Thanks for any help. I really enjoy reefcentral!

I tried to take a picture but I could not get one that was clear enough to show. I used a flashlight and I found 2 more of these things. They have pinks tips with a red colored base. The tentacles were out a little bit but when I turned the main lights in the tank on the went back in. Thanks!

Sounds like Pseudocorynactis to me. They are non-photosynthetic relatives of mushrooms. They are cool hitchikers that sometimes come on live rock. Check them out at night with flashlight. They are usually closed during the day.

that would also explain the burning that your brother felt as they have quite a powerful sting.
you can feed them they love meat.. get some mysis and place one on it..
absolutely cool animals
