Regal 300-INT
Bubble Magus D-9 or Curve 9
Super Reef Octopus 5000
NYOS Quantum 220

AquaMaxx Cone 5
AquaMaxx ConeS CO-5

Thanks

My friend has a reef octopus 5000 on a 1500 gallon system and it rocks it. Tons of nasty green thick stuff all the time. I don't know much about the other brands tho sorry..

Basically there are 2 types of skimmers - venturi and pin wheel. You should do some research and first decide which style you would prefer. Lifereef and MTC skimmers are venturi style and that is my preference.

I have an MTC venturi style skimmer and it beats the c*** out of any other skimmer I have had, including the Reef Octopus, which did a good job. I think venturi types are much better at producing bubbles and also for adjusting production.

lol
hkgar I just posted a question for you in the MTC club thread.

For the OP:
For a larger tank I would hands down go with a venturi or beckett based skimmer as tall as you can get. I went with venturi based on easier maintenance of the injector and slightly more flexible on the pumps as head pressure still matters for a venturi based but not as important as it is for a beckett.

I went with a MTC MVX for my mazzei venturi based skimmer based on several design features of it.

I posted all about my experience with it here in the MTC club thread
