ya thats the one i was thinking of. Didnt know it was an anem type thing..i guess it does sorta look a bit like aptasia. But i got no clue where they get that you need 175w MH lighting to keep it...i've kept that under 2x65w pc's in my 29

Yeah my friend who gave it to me had them and some others in a 4x 36" t8 no in a 65G.

They will just grow slower.

I guess with my 4x39w t5 it will grow nicely!

Do they eat at night? they are open with my lights off.

Also got some small GSP pieces, I hope to cover the back glass with it.

many corals do this. My moon polyps are ALWAYS open. Same with a few of my button polyps, leathers, etc...

I dont think that means they feed at night tho...they're just still open i guess.

For the gsp...i believe they're 100% photosynthetic (actually i dont think its the coral itself that uses light...i think its an alga that grows on the coral that the coral eats...but you know...whatever )

My gsp have never once taken a piece of food. Sometimes they're open at night as well. I think it may just depend on how much ambient light is in the tank at night...if its pitch black then i'd think they'd close all the time/way...but if there's ambient light from the room, my corals stay open.

The gsp will be very easy to cover the back glass...just give it time :)

Just tryed crushed flake food, droped in the mouth and the 3 closed around the food, half closed. :)

My friend didn't target feed them I think, but I'll do.

GSP and Zoanthids both do not require food but may feed on zooplankton, like cyclop-eeze. It is not necessary to feed them because they feed off of stuff already in the tank most of the time. They might grow faster if you feed them, but I doubt the gsp's will accept food or need the extra food because they'll grow soo fast.

Yeah I know about GSP not needing food but Yellow polyps aka Parazoanthus gracilis are a anemone coral (colonial) that will grow better if target feeded BBS, crushed flake or other small food.

Parazoanthus gracilis are of the order Zoanthidea, not Actinaria. So they are not a true anemone coral, but close. Zooplankton is best for feeding purposes especially cyclop-eeze and actually since they have long tenticles you can probably get by with feeding it mysis shrimp too.
