Need a Starfish for my Harlequin Shrimp

I bought a Green Brittle Starfish to feed to my Harlequin Shrimp the other day and learned a hard lesson. They will NOT eat them! I told the person at our LFS what I need the starfish for and they still sold it to me. I wanted to attempt the "sacraficial arm" method instead of giving them the whole chocolate chip star like I did last time. So she sold me the green star because they do not eat corals. Well, the dang shrimp are scared of the arm that I cut off 3 days ago to give to them, because it still moves around like it is possessed and it is loaded with spikes.

To get to the point:

1.) Does anyone have a starfish they want to get rid of or sell?

2.) Does anyone want/need a green brittle star to clean your tank, look at, or whatever it is that you may do with it?

It no longer serves a purpose in my tank and it now has one short arm. It is a decent size star also. Let me know. Thanks.

Somehow I was told not to get a green brittle starfish at one point. I don't remember why.....Lack of sleep and age is creeping up on me....lol I'll remember it later though.... Will they eat Astrea(sp?) stars????

Mikey, you were told not to get one because they will arch thiere bodys under caves and trap fish. Google "Will green brittle stars eat my fish?" Also, you can see a video on You Tube.

Lol, I remember seeing all of those little white stars in the 180. I think you could feed Harlequins for years out of that tank!

I moved the green star into my sump for now. He was hanging out were my Mandarin Goby likes to hover (in a cave!). So I thought it best to nip that situation before I became extremly agitated.

Thank you for the refreshment of my memory....lol I've got a ton of those little stars if they will eat them?

They eat them, Wayne has had one of those harlequins for over 2 yrs with nothing but the little astrena stars to eat on, and I have had one for almost a year. "they like'em"

Thanks Norman. With that being said, Mikey or Joy, I will be glad to take some of those stars off of your hands. I could trade you a frag of something for your troubles. Let me know, thanks.

Do you think a harlequin would eat my serpent starfish if I got one...I have tons of those asterina stars as well so I could maintain a harlequin

It won't be any trouble here either. You collect what you want from my tank. I have finally caught them eating my zooanthids. For a long time I have never seen them do anything like that. But for awhile my zooanthids were thinning out and some died off. Now I know why. I have read about them doing so years back, but never actually caught them doing it until recently.

I can't keep harleguins in my tank cause of my other star fish. My HUGE brittle star and my Spotted Linkia Starfish. Otherwise I would to get rid of these little suckers.

Nashvegas,
they prefer the fat stars that do not whip around thier legs (chocloate stars, linkia stars, etc). They are scared of them. My shrimp will run from a leg if I put it near them.
