Need advice for a good auto fish feeder

For anybody that's used them, what's a good auto feeder to put on my tank? I only have a few fish, but I'd like one that is reliable for at least a weeks time.

I'd also like to be able to order it from Marine Depot because I will be placing a good sized order with them for free shipping. If it's not, I'm still open to suggestions. I'd like one that runs on batteries so I wouldn't have to have another chord.

I don't plan on using it full time, only for vacations.

thanks

How does the Eheim work? Does the thing rotate? How many moving parts are there? I can't find how it works anywhere. The ventilation system looks pretty cool. I wasn't going to go with it originally, but I just might get it now.

from what i have seen the eheim's are the best. they just came out with another model recently which is more expensive than the old one, but i think you can get both.

There is a big drawback to battery operated feeders. If you have a power outage the feeder will keep on feeding.

The newer Eheim feeder has two separate storage area. You can pretty much dispense two different types of food. It uses two screw like devices (detachable) to dispense the food. The instruction manual is very vague.

It's also pretty tall, so it might not fit in your canopy if you have only a few inches of clearance.

The new Eheim seems like a gimmick. What's wrong with mixing all the dry food together and throwing it in a single compartment? The new one looks nice, but the old one looks like a better value right now.

When you get up in the morning to make the coffee, feed the fish. Its the best fish feeder I know of.

I totally agree but that one doesn't work too well when you're 900 miles away.

eheim has one that I use and is excellent. It pushes air through the container so nothing sticks inside.

I use the same one here. Works flawlessly, as long as you ensure the batteries will last the time you are away. Bought it 2 years ago and highly recommend it.

Well, one advantage would be if you feed flake in one compartment and pellets in the second compartment. That way, you could be sure of getting both types of foods in the tank when feeding - if you mixed it all together, then you'd get varying ratios of flake/pellet depending on how thoroughly you mix and how often you refill. Might be important if you're trying to feed shrimp and other pellet liking inhabitants as well as fish.

got new twin eheim...jams up on pellets...waiting for eheim to call me back two days now..I'm using New Life Thera-A Anti-Parasitic Formula 1mm pellets... Just a heads up..

For those who have the Eheim 3581, what do you have it on for the setting? The manual as said above is very vague and I can't figure out what mode to put it on (1-4) or what exactly I am suppose to do to set it? Any help on this would be great.

I have the Current USA Aqua Chef coming in the mail. I'll let you know. This thing needs to work as I will be out of town for one month this summer. Lets cross our fingers for both of us.
