Need Advice/Ideas - Light Cover/Panel

I am looking for ideas on how to cover up the top portion of my tank. The light is so high in the room that if you get close to look at the tank it almost blinds you - so I want to figure out some type of covering to block the light coming out the front.

Also it needs to ventilate to keep the heat down inside the alcove and be able to open up or slide away so that I can get into the tank.

Would love some ideas from the community! Thanks!

Short of building a canopy or employing some kind of curtain system I don't see that there is a solution.

Problem is, both of those solutions will retain heat.

Solution is to sell off that MH in favor of an LED setup and a canopy/curtain system.

Cute spot to put the tank. You will have the same issue with any light you hang, even LED's which I find more intense on my eyes than my halides. A hood will help but without careful planning it will trap heat. I built a suspended canopy with the sides longer than the halide pendant to help block the light spill, and the top is open to allow heat to not build up. That curved surface will direct heat to the top, can you replace that light with a vent fan? What is above the tank, it looks like a good place to vent to from this angle.

So you are saying that the light which is canned lighting can be replaced with an exhaust fan or vent? Do you know where I would buy a fixture like that? It's a good idea since as of now it just provides moon light at night.
