Need advice on a 6080

Hoping I can get some help! I have a pair of Tunze 6080 streams and a 9010 skimmer which have run flawlessly for almost two years.

Recently one of the steams has begun tripping the circuit breaker. I've taken it out of the tank and plugged it in a different outlet; it runs for a split second before it trips the electricity.

Any advice?

This is a complicated problem. I am almost certain the pump is fine. I have seen this before and we test them and besides tripping the breaker they use a normal wattage and emit no stray voltage. Motors and ballasts tend to be poor GFI candidates. For example in my house I have a 6 T-5 light rack for starting my vegetables, at least once a month it trips the GFI. It isn't for any safety reason it just is that motors and ballasts charge up and the GFI's work by measuring the difference between current in and current out so for a brief time more current is going in than coming out. You might double check that everything is clean. If you want to send it in, assuming you are in USA, I can see what can be done.

Thanks for the response Roger. This pump has never tripped anything until now. I'll reset the GCFI, and as soon as I plug in this device, it trips (even if I leave everything else unplugged). I brought it to the other side of the house (totally different circuit with almost nothing at all running on it) and the exact same thing happened.

Is there anything else I should attempt before sending it in? DO I need a RA or some pre-approval to send?

thx...

No RA number needed. Send it in. I will test everything and if it is less than 2 years old replace the motor block. If you have a reciept that will be helpful.

BTW, include a note so I know what I am looking for. This problem won't show in the normal tests I conduct as we generally just look for watt consumption and stray voltage.
