need advice

Ok guys and gals, I need your advice. I bought some equipment from someone here on RC on 3/27 and they have not sent me my lights. I sent an email and got a reply on 4/3 explaining they had been out of town and would mail them ASAP. Since then I have emailed him on 26, 23, 12, and 10 of April. He has been on RC several times but has failed to contact me. A RC mod says that there is nothing RC can do. I used PayPal so I could file a claim. I also posted a thread to every reef club he might be a member. What else can I do? Since I can track when he is on should I start posting in the threads he replies to? I do not want to be a pest but I feel like he has stolen my money so far. Thanks.

I would just file a claim with Paypal. I'd advise to do it soon as you can't file a claim after 45 days past transaction.

Well, your 20 year old punk/"pimp" to his buddies, lives in West Palm Beach and is a reefer in more ways than one. He only posts in new to reefing, equipment, buying, selling, THE LOUNGE etc, no LRCs. Probably a way to build his post count on RC. My "boys" in Miami arent boys anymore so I cant ask a "Guido" to pay him a visit these days (especially over $35, it would take that in gas!). You might pm a guy named "dagsmd" here on RC who, I think, is the pres of the WPBRC to see if he know him. You can make his day by posting on his "myspace" site. Robb's myspace

Dave, that was a job half done. Simple enough to click his "search" icon to see where he's posted before. When I saw him in the lounge I figured he'd cough up some personal info. I was just looking for where in S.FL he was since I know people down there. Stupid sob put it all out there by giving his myspace.
There are ways beyond my knowledge to find his exact whereabouts and personal info but I dont think it would be any benefit to Mike.

Mike, btw, I dont think there were any warning signs you could have seen before your problem. You just got the short stick this time and you should probably count yourself lucky to only loose as much as you did. I've bought a $700 chiller on Rc that thankfully turned out positive. Lets hope he gets jacked or caught buying his next bag of pot. (notice his sig says POWLR - "pot only with live rock"?)

Wow Squeak that was pretty cool detective work. Earlier I posted questions for every reef club he might be a member and I will check those next.
Yeah I do not think post numbers count for much but I figured with 2+ years on RC he should have been willing to send my stuff.
I will file with PayPal and then start following him when ever he posts. Thanks again. I will let you know something.
It really is not about the money even though it is, it is just the thought of being taken.

I took your help and suggestions and found some more information about Robb. I will see if a fellow reef club president can help. If not I will simply contact PayPal and file a claim. I also wonder what else he has done and to whom?
Would your boys take 50?

Mike, I would file a claim anyway as they can solve the problem alot faster. Also, it might be too late to file if you wait a little longer. I wouldn't worry about loosing your money though. Paypal is usually on point with thier resolutions. I've been paid back after someone tried to stiff $900 out of me, and was also was paid back 2 weeks ago when I ordered something off of ebay.

Ok, claim has been filed and I contacted the president of his club to contact him for me. I figure this will go the distance but in the end I will get some satisfaction.

Well chalk one up for the good guys. I got a full refund today from Robb and the case is closed. Now the important question: What do I buy now?
