hello i just came home to a electricle charge put through my tank my new koralia 3 powerhead zaped my intire tank for like a a long time now yesterday i walked in to a wall of orenge on all the walls of the tank so today i took every thing out and cleaned it VERY well scrubed and every thing then i left for like one to two hours and all the rocks have what i just cleaned off i did a 15g water change out of my 75g tank and 30g sump also my leather seem to have a HOLE in it that was not there be fore like it was shoot lol i dont no what to do i think everything is dead i have it in my freinds tank now i was wondering if any one has any help

ok two days ago the powerhead went and put a charge through my tank for a little bit. i anly noticed because the color of all the glass was orange so i put my hand in and i got shock so i took out the powerhead. now today i did a 15g water change and cleaned all the rocks and i went out for two hours and wen i came back all the stuff i cleaned off the rocks is back. it looks like little yellowish strings like hair algea but yellowish all over all my rocks

I'm guessing that he got shocked, unpluged the power head and didn't get shocked. But that's just a hunch.

I want to know more.

Is there anything else it could have been? have you pulled the koralia out and tried operarting it in a bucket? Are the wires visibly melted? Did you trip your breaker?

I'm contemplating buying one of these pumps. The details would be helpful in determining the actual cause.

I think looking at the complete electrical setup is in order. You should have some GFCI plugs in the system so that things shut off when there is a short etc. Your lucky you didn't end up a statistic.

Just my thoughts.

I would do some water changes and run some carbon. I don't know that there is much else you can do. Do you have fish? Were they killed? If not I wouldn't sweat it too much.

Regards,

Pat

Wouldn't any electrical charge blow a fuse somewhere in your house? Maybe the power strip or home fuse box for that outlet. I personal use 4 power strips:

1.) lights only
2.) pumps only
3.) fans only

4.) All power strips go into this strip

All of the power strips has a built in fuse to keep from blowing the main circuit breaker of the house.

i doubt very highly that a powerhead did this.
i have 2 koralias, 2 maxijets, and 3 aquaclears in my tanks and have no troubles. i bet i can speak for everyone reading as well.
not to mention the fact that you shouldn't plug ANYTHING into the wall that is going into water WITHOUT running it through a powerstrip.
recheck your equiptment.
i see the last post was a month ago. what did you find?

I saw at least 2 post with orange everywhere on maybe 5 post about Koralia putting a voltage in tank.

Probably the reason for the recall

the reason for the recall (from what koralia USA rep. tells me) is - failure right out of the box. mine (2 model 3's) happen to work perfectly, but i am still going to send them back for the free upgrade to model 4's.
