I have a 55g FOWLR tank. My nitrates have always been at 30 ppm. So with the development of sump /refugium, I believe that this will be the answer to my problems with midhigh nitrates.

Here's a fuge I've built several times with much success. You can change measurements to suit your needs

Are you talking about a hang on back refugium?

I use a 10G tank as my sump/refug. I bought a piece of acrylic plastic then used that to partition the sump. 3/4 is for the refugium (for algae), and 1/4 for the return pump. The partitioning is to prevent the algae fromg growing toward the the return pump's intake and pluging it up

For lighting I used two 20w CFL bulbs left on 24/7. Algae grows like mad in there
