Need help choosing new salt mix

I switched to KW when I set my 58 gallon up this summer. It has been a great performing salt for me. My Ca and Mg is more consistant than ever.

Do you know of any local stores that carry HW?/PHP]

Try CapBay, they have it and that is where I buy it. It is like $25 a 50# bag.

Actually I've sent a case of IO to you! Seriously thanks for the tip on this stuff, I am very happy with it.

You vultures better stay away from liveaquaria once the free shipping comes back!

Great! Thanks, I need to get by there anyway and check out some frags.

I am willing to try a new salt if this salt is going to be "all of that." I have been in this hobby a year and some change and from day one I have been using TMP. I have had good results with it and never had any algae issues in my tank. Perhaps my overflows but not my main display. Where can I buy this salt?

mmotown,

I lived in dallas.. The only place i saw it there was North Dallas Aquarium.. along with the price.. watch online proces and ship it.. thats my suggestion

I use a 50/50 mix of IO and Oceanic as well. I never have to buffer my tanks when I run this stuff and I am running a mostly sps dominate tank.

Here are some top down shots of my corals. Very happy and growing like mad....

I am a firm believe in the 50/50 mix. Before this mix I was using just IO and had to buffer the tank every week. ALk and calcium was up and down. Then I tried the mix, and I have to say, that with bi weekly water changes, my tank holds fast with the parameters. I then tried a test and went back to IO ( knowing that I can just mix what I have anyway) and sure enough I have to buffer the tank again just as before. I have since mixed a new batch of oceanic and IO since, but I am sold on this....

I don't run a kalk reactor nor a calcium reactor as well.:)
Spank.

I am buying all of it in like 5 minutes....better get on it...seriously though...i am having to let my alk start at 9 and then drop down to 8.4 just so i can do a WC with IO...sick of it...i just wanna drip my kalk and let my alk and Ca stay constant so drs. foster and smith here i come....they dropped free shipping but they did reduce the price on HW...here i come!!

I am going to buy this salt next week since I only have a little bit of TMP left. What initially started this thread about this particular salt? Meaning the HW. Also with the HW salt what is initally being achieved that TMP couldn't? What should I notice with this salt (HW)? I hope these are legit questions. I have only known 1 salt since I have been in the hobby and I am always learning? Thx

Take a look at my first post. Based on setting up my calcium reactor I found it necessary to find a salt that had params more in line with my display set point since I would no longer be adjusting the values with 2 part everyday. I always used I/O or Reefcrystals and supplemented the tank with less alk that ca. It's not really an HW thread but through discussion many of us have decided its worth trying. After putting a 150 gallon box through my system I can tell you the tank looks really good. It will be a few months before a high percentage of the water in the tank is HW. Then I'll have an answer either way but for now if it stays consistent I am staying the course

Back up to 15.99 .. but i still bought 4 more bags.. its 25$ a bag local ... :)
It came out to $24.98 with shipping when I did it, so you aren't saving much on it. Why not buy it local? Just curious.
