Need help fixing overflow box

While plumbing my new glass tank, I found the water level touches the center brace of the tank (when main return pump is running). I have to lower the water level about 1/2" ~ 3/4" by lengthen the teeth of overlow box. Unfortunately the overflow box is firmly glued in place. Does anyody have any idea of cutting teeth of overflow box while it is already installed? Any recommended tools? Thanks!

What kind of return pump are you using and what size are your bulkheads?

You could possible use a file, but I'd probably recommend using a dremmel. You'll want to do the work with your return pump off and after the works done skim the surface water to remove any flakes/chips.

I had a similar problem. On my overflow box, there are two detachable holes that allows the locline to pass from the inside of the box to the tank. I just broke off both of the detachable holes and put a seaweed clip to narrow the hole (so no fish falls in)... dont knwo that this helpss

I am using Eheim 1262. For drain, there are two 1" bulkheads. There is no water backup inside the overflowbox. I think the drain can handle the water flow.

I install a gate valve and a 3/4" tee on the return line. I reduce the water flow from 1262 but still no good. I think I have no choice but cutting the teeth deeper.

I am doing fresh water test. I want to make sure everything work before putting salt water in it.

Unfortunately there are no such holes in my overflow box. :( It's a custom made tank.
