Need help identifying this coral

Don't know what this is but I agree it doesn't look like a monti and definitely not a stylophora.

I also noticed a tiny slit and a bump in the middle of this frag. There is a very angry little critter that lives in that hole. I got stung by one a week ago and my finger still hurts. Be careful when handling it. They have a sharp appendage that strikes out from that hole and they're really fast. Sorry, not trying to hijack, just a friendly warning.

Crap, Thanks!

Crap, Thanks!

I hate to hear that! Do you know what that creature is and/or how to get rid of it? Now I need help IDing 2things. Thanks for the info! Ray

I swear I used to know what that creature is but I have long since forgotten. But I won't be forgetting what it does when you put your finger over that hole. I saw another one just yesterday when I dipped a coral in coralrx. The dip did not kill it but it certainly did make it angry. I'm betting they're fairly common, we just tend to overlook them.

Perplexed

Perplexed

Thank you both for your input, it is very much appreciated! I am confused now though. There is no chalice corallite/head/mouth (however it's referred to) and it has many polyps and resembles a thin skeleton encrusting coral different than any chalice I've ever seen so either I'm hoping it is something else, or is it going to die on me? I've never seen a chalice frag of any species without at least one head. I'm worried that it's going to die, but I have it under bright LEDs towards the top of the tank and it seems happy with great polyp extension. I just don't know what to make of it. I do know that Reef Raft USA sells some awesome and unusual corals. Hopefully this will thrive and it will be easier to tell for sure exactly what it is. It almost reminds me of a psammacora like my Outer Space Psammy, but not quite the same. Thanks again guys. Oh yeah, I realized a little earlier that I attached a photo of a different frag (from the same colony, I looked at a few frags of it but picked a different one but I can't get the edit link to work?). The one they sent doesn't have that evil creature, thank goodness! I appreciate the tip though and will keep my eyes out for it in the future. After 15 years I thought I'd seen it all, but that will never happen, even in two lifetimes! Sincerely. Ray

Here is a pic of my frag immediately after feeding. It actually looks more like a Montipora in this picture but still not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated, as always. Thanks. Ray
