Need help instantly!

Alright so I got a flame angelfish about 5 days ago. Then yesterday I got a Tomi Tang. And when I looked at my flame angelfish today I noticed he had a couple white specs on him. I thought it wasn't a disease and maybe just some sand on him so I waited about 10 minutes. Then I looked back and it was still there. So I took him out of my tank and put him in a hospital tank. I dipped him in fresh water for about 10 seconds. Then put him back in the hospital tank. And added a fish treatment. This definitely the common marine ick. But what I want to know is what caused this? What else can I do to keep it out of my tank? Someone please help.

There is a thread in the new to the hobby forum about how to treat ich. But in short you must remove all fish from the main tank and treat with hypo, copper, or tank transfer. And leave the main tank fishless for 72 days. Once the 72 days is over you can put the fish back in but you must qt any new fish first before adding to the main tank or you run the risk of doing this all over again.
