Need Help!!! Maxima Clam Removal

I have a 90 gallon tank that has a couple of clams in it.

I am trying to get them to release from the rocks so i can move them to the new tank...

The only reason i need them to release from the rocks is that they are attached to a rock that has a lot of star polyps around the clam and I don't want the star polyps in the new tank..

Any ideas on how to get them off the rock???

You can get a razorblade and try to tilt the clam to one side and slice the byssal threads to remove them. If the wont titl to eith side you can try to get the blade underneath but it will be tough. You could also try and pull them straight up if the thread rip no big deal when clams move they leave their byssal thread behind. Good luck.

dont pull it off.

tip it to one side and cut the threads as far away from the clam as you can

How close to the rock do I need to get?

It is in a crack.

Cut as far away from the clam as possible and try to limit the pulling on the threads. You can kill the clam by pulling it off.
