I'd immediately dip the coral and the rock and scrub the rock as well before the eggs hatch. Whatever those spiders/bugs are they can't be good.

My friend who owns a LFS looked at the coral and confirms they are Montipora Eating Nudibranchs. There are also many eggs. My concern was the Nudibranchs would also eat my acros and other corals. My plan is to remove my 2 Montipora corals from the tank. My friend who has a fish store will dip and eradicate the Nudibranchs and bring them back to health. He believes that my tank should be free of the Nudibranchs in 3 months. If no Monti corals in my tank, the nudibranchs cycle will die. Do you guys think this is a good plan to rid them from my tank?

Steve, long time no see! (you bought corals from me a long time ago back in Boca)

That plan sounds good. I would just quickly check some relatively recent threads on what people are recommending for courses of treatment of MENs to make sure that you understand the process and when you communicate with your friend that you know that he knows the process.

Also, just make sure that there aren't any broken pieces of montipora back on/in the rocks for the MENs to eat while the main colonies are gone.

Best of luck on treatment!

Do you still live in Boca? I just got back into the hobby. Hope all is well and thanks for the advice

Nah, I'm in NYC now. Also starting back up in the hobby (was in Michigan for 3 years with no tank :( )

Hope all is well too, and again good luck with the MENs! There's still a very active FMAS group on Reefcentral (and facebook took) if you're looking for any equipment, corals, or advice locally.

I'd start scrubbing and doing Bayer dips asap, if you have any other montis in the tank then they're probably on there as well. If you post in the SPS section you'll get better replies, a lot of guys on there have dealt with them recently.

There's a product called Detol that knocks them off the monti pretty quick. Bayer, RX, revive, iodine... they live through it unless you use so much you loose the coral

The Monti's were taken out. I had 2 in the tank and they were not attached to any rocks. I gently lifted them off the rock and out of the tank. One monti was loaded with nudibranch and other had none. We dipped the corals at saw at least 30 or more nudibranch floating. No more Monti's in my tank for a year. After reading many posts, they will die if no host is found. Not sure how long it will take to break the cycle and I will do without Monti's.
