Just built and hooked up my new sump. It is a lot louder than I thought it would be. This is a problem because it is in my bedroom. I can get the overflow to be pretty quiet so it doesn't gulp air. But, the water flowing down the pipe (spa flex) makes a loud splashing sound as it travels down. Also the return pump vibrates against the glass. Is there a way to quiet that? I was thinking of some rubber or foam for the pump to sit on. Thanks for the help.

to get the pump quieter you have the perferct idea, and maybe your pump is pushing to much water thru the over flow thats why is that sound, i have the same problem and i fix it with a gate valve, just lower the flow of your pump and see if reduce the sound, or maybe you need to raise the water line in your sump

I put a piece of thin foam under it and that worked well for the pump. I insulated my stand with fiberglass insulation for noise. I don't know if this is a good idea or not (moisture and all). I still need help with silencing the overflow though. Do durso drains work that well at silencing the gulp noise and the water draining noise or just the air gulps? How far do you have the overflow tubing into your sump? I trimmed mine off, maybe I should do more? Thanks

I think my pump is too powerful also. I have a 9.5 mag and I have a ball valve on it and it is mostly closed. I wish I would have went with the mag 7. I tried to figure out how much flow I would get but it doesn't seem to work out too well.

so your sure its not the overflows? that its the water traveling through the piping? not water going into the sump? the drain not the return?

try wrapping the piping with pipe insulation. get the kind that has a silver backing to keep fiber glass from falling into the sump or use a foam wrap.
