Currently running a 30g standard with otb carbon filter and 45lbs of LR. We currently have a Condy anem.( we are thinking of getting rid of it), 5 green chromis, 1 blue damsel 1 tank bred oc clown, 1 peppermint shrimp , 10 astrea snails, 8 blue leg hermits. Have mixed reef corals.. Currently zoos, 1 hammer coral, violet pulsing xenia, yellow star polyps, snake polyp coral, spiny yellow gorg fan, and tarot/ kenya tree coral. Going to add some sps and more softies to the 125 for a mixed reef.

Wish list must have: Blue hippo tang, more clowns More chromis and damsels (for some schooling fish).

I need some advise on what reef safe fish to buy And how many so I dont overstock for some variety for our new 125g.

125g has dual overflow. I am currently running pluming. (I will post a build thread) Also going to have 36w uv sterilizer 40 gal breeder as a fuge/ sump with a in sump skimmer. Haven't decided on a return pump either.Auto top off. It has a 60" Hamilton Tech light which has 3 mh and t5 combo. Possibly going to add some actinic powerbrite modules to supplement this.

Any feedback would be helpful. We don't have any LFS around here to offer any help advice. Thank you .Drew

is a 125g large enough for a hippo tang?

also, how many clowns do you plan on adding to the tank? more than 2 and they will literally fight to the death.

Remember LA minimum tank size is just that, the minimum size need to keep a fish. Now weather the fish would be happy and do well in that size is another story.

i believe they can get awfully large so I am not sure 70g is large enough

70 gallons is NOT enough for a paracanthurus hepatus. Live Aquaria is trying to sell you a product. If they posted the actual tank size that this fish (and many others) require they would not sell nearly as many.

There is no set amount of gallons required by one of those tangs. IMO they require a 6+ foot long tank, which a standard 125 provides.

Agreed, a 125 is pretty much bare minimum for it IME. If you want to not overstock then that hippo, bunch o' chromis, and pair of clowns should be enough. I've overstocked my 125 at one point and am never doing that again. Wiz ;)
