Need Help to get better understanding of water flow in my 60 G Reef tank (Tall)

Hello Experts,

I am fairly new to reef aquarium, and kind of understanding the essentials to make it a successful one. I have a 60 gallon fish tank with the Tank Dimensions: 12.75"L x 48.5"W x 25" H . I am planning to make it a reef tank. I have around 70 pounds of live rock in it. I don't have a sump. I am running with 2 X 100 g Marine-land Canister Filters with a coral reef 65 g super skimmer. I have current USA LED with Ramp timer lighting - 48 inch.

Now comes the topic for our discussion, the water circulation power heads. I have added 1 X 1600 GPH hydor power head, and 1 X 800 GPH Sunsan power head. They are on the 2 opposite sides of the tank, hydor is placed in the bottom to create bottom current, it is pointed towards the front side of the tank. My sunsan powerhead is placed on the opposite side of the tank (to hydor) but 10 inches higher and it is pointed towards the front side of the tank. They are parallel to each other. The idea which i got from my LFS is to create bottom current in clock wise and top current (to control the bottom current) in counter clock wise. Apart from these i have 2 outlets coming from my canister filter with 350 GPH each. They add to the top current along with my sunsan power head.

Now the concern here is, when i added my green torch coral with 2 heads (placed at the sand bed), he seems to get too much of flow, like getting whipped. I even placed him inside a small cave, but still getting beaten up. My pink leather coral is under my hydor power head, and doing ok, as well as my purple polyps which is below sunsan.

Please advice what should i do with my torch coral. I got it for 40 $ :(

Thanks.

Thanks for your reply.. Now what is the difference between 'wave maker' and 'circulation pumps'? Again i can see we have 'wave timers or controller' separately which will be connected to multiple power heads to create wave like pattern by turning on and off the power heads.

1. Wave Maker

2. Circulation Pump

3. Smart Wave Pump Controller

Power heads can be tough to get just right. It's best to have several to choose from or the better option is to get an adjustable one like a vortech or jebao RW series.

Problem Solved

I guess the problem is solved now, i just changed the direction of the power heads (top and bottom) to point towards the back side glass of the tank. My corals are in front side. So now they seem okay. But to be honest i am not sure if my Torch coral has already died due to the shock.

Please see the photos. I have taken videos, but not sure how to upload them here.

Hard to tell, but that looks like frogspawn to me, not a torch. Looks nice and healthy too. If it dies, you won't see any tentacles, just the hard bony skeleton.

The best advice I got on how to place any euphyllia, "So the tentacles just wiggle".
