Need help to prevent future suicides!

Good morning. I have a 90 gallon setup built into my wall. This morning I discovered my new clown on the floor. This is the third fish I've lost in the last year and am now determined to put an end to it. As you can see in the picture, I have about a 3 inch gap on the top of my tank due to the HOB overflow on the left and return on the right. The LED light sits on two panels that came with the tank. There is a middle bar that is built into the tank that separates the two sides.

I have to climb a ladder to access the top of this tank. My daily feeding routine consists of me using a baster to put food into the top of the tank without having to climb ladder. I do not want to have to remove something daily to do this. I have an accessible sump on the bottom.

Thank you.

Mike

Bulk Reef Supply sells mesh that fits into a standard window screen or wood frame. 1/4 or 1/2 inch. Works great

You may be able to squirt the food right next to the intake of your return pump to remove the need to lift a cover to feed, depending on what you're feeding.

Home Depot universal aluminum window screen frame with monfilament mesh from BRS. You can make it work for your tank as needed.

Here are the screen panels I made for mine. Plenty of air and light get through but keeps the critters inside.
