need help w/maxima and derasa clams

is a 2" maxima 1st grade for 23 bucks good?
and what does a colored derasa clam look like, from the internet it looks like thay can have some color or be very bland, is $30 for a 4" colored derasa a good deal?

That sounds like a good deal, but clams that small need regular feedings of live phyto. Most people use a "feeding bell", or take them out and "bowl feed them" until they are 3"+ or so.

If you get a maxima put him up high in rockwork, on the bottom of your tank there won't be enough light from a 175w bulb.

Sounds like a good deal to me too. Good luck finding a derasa that isn't brown/cream colored. I've seen pictures of other colors but haven't seen one for sale.

Good luck. And make sure you fire them up with light. They may not appreciate being on the bottom of your tank with only 175s.
