Need Help w/Weird Acan Problem

I have a really weird growth on the skeleton of a mini-colony of Acans that I've had for a while.
It's between the polyps/heads and is pretty strong, not soft at all.
Here's some pics I took last night.
Please let me know if you've ever run across anything like this, if you have any idea what it is, or how to treat it.
I already did a lugol's dip on it last night.

This is before I messed with it last night.
If you look closely, you can see the smooth growing edge of this stuff.
This is also the most the polyps are inflating right now.

This pic is taken after I broke what I could off of the edge of the brown stuff.
I can't break anymore off without using some kind of tiny, pointy metal instrument, or I will damage the skeleton of the Acans.
This is also after a lugol's dip, the Acans are a bit stressed in this pic.

I am not sure what that is, but I had something similar on one of my largest colonies a while back. I didn't do anything. The acan grew around it, then over it.

On another note, nice acans, let me know if you want to trade.

Hmmm, thanks.
Mebbe I should just leave it alone for a couple of days.
I'm just really nervous about losing this one, this is one of my absolute favorite pieces.
It's not inflating right now either, so it's obviously irritated.

Thanks for the compliment, I'll keep you in mind for trades if it recovers! :)

I think its just a type of coraline... I have it on one of my boweranki frag plugs... Doesn't bother it... I wouldn't worry about it too much...
