im thinking of setting up a 20 gal long macro algae tank.what are the conditions and additives i need to set-up a very interesting,good-looking unique tank?

Lots of light and flow - a means of adding nutrients. The only additives would be an iron supplement (http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/aug2002/chem.htm ).
