Need help with a skimmer powerhead

I have no idea who makes this skimmer I have and the powerhead on it looks to be a universal fit (connected via common tubing, see picture). It is getting to the point where I am thinking its going to stop working and I want to replace it. But I dont know much about skimmers and the air inlet line. Do I need to get a specific kind of pump/powerhead? Links to pictures and model numbers would be great or if someone has one they think would work let me know.

looks like it says the pump model on the side of the pump.....it's a bit faded.....CX1000?

Maybe you can look up the skimmer model on marine depot and find out the specs on the pump

you know, I had not noticed that. When I look again it its a genx GX-1000 which comes out as a 265gph. There are not many places that list them online and none that I have heard of. Would like to find something that I could purchase local.

What are the specs on the skimmer? (make/model)

No, any skimmer pump (the kind that draw in air) with a similar gph will work. You probably will even see an increase in skimming if you go with a newer pump with a needlewheel prop.

Dont know about the skimmer. I got it for a deal from one of the fine members of our orca community. If anything will work, I will have to stop in and see if marcye has anything for me that will work. The connection to the skimmer body is just a piece of clear tubing.

Wow, they didn't get much simpler then that do they? Not to step on anyone's toes, but it's semi-amazing that skimmer works at all, be it the 2.5" diameter body, lack of a skimmer neck or any type of adjustment on the return.

I would just find a new GenX 1000 or a needlewheel equivalent and be set. :)

well I got it for a good price and it does have an adjustment that is not on the skimmer. I posted the pics for someone who is looking into a replacement pump and wanted to know what the pump looked like inside and what the skimmer looked like.

....and the body is 3 inches thank you very much! ;)
