Need Help with Bubble Tip anenome

I have a reef and fish tank. Some time ago I purchased a small bubble tip anenome that has gotten quite large and is taking room I'd like to use for corals as well as spreading out and stinging my existing corals. He has attached himself to a crack in the largest live rock I have in my 130 gal tank. This live rock also acts as an anchor with several other pieces of live rock. How do I get him to release his hold so I can get him out of the tank and back to a LFS without damaging his foot.

There is really nothing that can be done unless you are wiiling to take the rock out of the tank and try and remove it. I am not a proponent of keeping mixed reef tanks for this very reason. Putting things in a tank that can move with things that can't move(corals) many times can end up in disaster, and then you have people that have had nems and corals in a tank and nothing ever seems to go wrong. I'm sorry I can't be of more help here, one other thing you might try is shading the light over the nem, it might move because it is no longer getting the light it wants.HTH

dominick, you have several options to get it to release.

a. take powerhead and blow against its foot. it ll slowly release.
b. ice cube at its feet.
c. shade your lighting.
d. of couse you can break the rock but why damage your rock work, when its not necessary.

all you need is to get it to lift its foot alittle and you can nudge the rest off.

hopefully other more exp. anemone owners will give you other options also.
