Hello all,

Can I put more than 2 clowns in this tank? If yes, which type?
(I love the skunk clownfish; are they schooling?)
How about the Porcelain Crabs? are they schooling, too?
How many can I have?
Right now I have one.

The tank is 40"x36"24" tall
The Haddoni is about 16" to 20"

Thank you,

Full tank

Ive kept multiple anemone crabs in the same tank at the lfs I work at. They dont fight that I see, but in a tank with 6-7 btas theres only one crab per anemone. My guess is they are only friendly whwn they want to breed.

As for the clowns, no there are no schooling clownfish per say. In the wild you will find multiple clowns in one anemone but they are more a family than a school. Theres gonna be big mamma ( the largest clownfish who is the dominate breeding female) the alpha male (who is the only male breeding with the dominate female) and usually atleast 2 small male clowns. If the breeding female dies, the alpha male turns female and the most dominate ovf the other 2 small males becomes the new alpha male. This balance keeps the family going. Most the juveniles stay around for ahwile but usually drift away over time and start thier own "family".

It is difficult to replicate this behavior in a home aquarium, so I would stick with a pair.

diggin the layout. Hybrid sand and bare bottom is something ive never seen.

Thanks xtlosx and God.

What kind of clownfish is the least aggressive?
I am thinking of add a bunch of small skunk clownfish at the same time; will they live happy together?

Thanks,

Again, as the poster mentioned, you CANNOT have more than 2 clownfish in a tank. Here's why, once a dominant pair is formed, they will kill off the remaining clownfish because they will claim all your tank. There's a difference between in the open seas and the tank. Only 1 pair of clowns in your tank.

LOVE how that HUGE red haddoni is layer out. So nice. I usually oh have one symbiant animal per anemone and a pair of clownfish and never had a problems. Following the rules is good for something:)

Thanks FTDelta, God, and cichlidconvert.
I was hopping for an exceptional rule (:
I guess I have to put back the Picasso pair.

I really like the way you have this tank set up!

I have three porcelain crabs and two anemones in my tank. As shared above, they don't fight. One does travel from the Gigantea to the Haddoni on occasion. I don't see it move from one to the other and don't know if it is the same one moving from one to the next.
