Need help with DIY refugeium

I am making a DIY hang on refugium out of a aquaclear 500. Here is a pic of the filter I have.

I am missing the intake. How can I make one? Or where can I buy one?

Is it going to be a simple U-tube with a powerhead? Or a powered intake, like the original filter?

i need something to hook up to the pump that goes with it. the pump looks like a powerhead
