Need help with fish for predator tank

I am planning on setting up a fowlr predator tank.
I was going to go with the agressive fish, but after doing some more research I decided to to with the predator fish.
The tank is 65 gallons and measures 36"X 24" X 18 ".
I know I want a dwarf lion fish. Other than that I don't have a clue.
I am new at this hobby, please help me with suggestions to stock this tank. I will have alot of rock in it with plenty of cave areas. Currently I have a 90 gallon reef with some fish in it. Thanks so much. Connie
 
I hear dwarf lions are not easy, I'm not sure but I did hear that from someone

Harlequin Tusk Fish
Puffer(smaller Variety)
Niger Trigger (more docile than other triggers)
 
I agree with all of what Moby said except the Tusk. They get big, up to about 9-10" and will easily outgrow your 65g in time.

Dwarf Lions are only hard if you get them small, then they'll be hard to start feeding. If you decide to get a lion, get it at about 2-3" an be sure its already eating.

As for Puffers, try a Toby or Honeycomb Puffer. They stay small and, from what I've heard, are pretty hardy.

I have a dwarf fuzzy lion--faboulous fish. He is very active and out and about, flutters around the tank and is an agressive eater. I would not say messy, as it has a fairly large, all encompassing mouth, so it all goes in. He does not seem to bother any other fish in the tank (small white ribbon eel, yellow tang, foxface, damsel). He's quite entertaining, and I have had no problems at all.

I like foxface lo's--very striking appearance and pretty sociable in the tank. Also, is a herbivore, so you can feed alot of veggie food, which does not decompose and therefore pollute the tank as much.

Re puffers, keep in mind that they are very messy eaters, so you may end up with uneaten food in the tank, and need to watch it carefully for water changes, etc.

Hey Connie, that might be a little bit much for a 65g IMO. At max size

Dwarf fuzzy lionfish - 6.6"
miniatus grouper - 16", fast growing, and will eat anything it can get in it's mouth - I've seen a 12" one that was traded in at a LFS.
lunare wrasse -9.8" very active swimmer, may harass lion and angel.
flame angel - 3.9" snack
one spot foxface - 7.9"

total 44.2 inches max of fish. Some fish get pretty territorial, it's only a 3ft tank and you also don't want to overwhelm your bio-filter. If you're set on the Fuzzy Dwarf, I would ditch the wrasse and the grouper. You may also want to consider a slightly larger angel so he'll be safe from the lion. The foxface is an ok choice. Maybe you could do the fuzzy dwarf, the foxface and 1 -2 nore such as dwarf angel, smaller eel, hawkfish of some sort, or a
marine betta.
 
The majestic angel gets too big. They get 12".

Something like a dwarf lion, a toby puffer, an eel that doesn't exceed two feet, and a larger dwarf angel like a lemonpeel would work. Or you could replace the toby with a hamlet. The hamlets are very grouper looking as they're close relatives. The indigo hamlet is quite nice looking. They only get about 5-6" depending on the species.

I am glad I decided to figure this out before I started getting fish. I am going to transfer the fresh water fish to a different tank next week and get started on the saltwater tank. Thanks again...connie
 
I would pass on the purple tang in a 65, they get too big, swim too much and have a mean streak in them that will be amplified in a smaller tank.
 
The snowflake gets too large. As I said above, an eel that stays two feet or less is best. They do move around at night, and your tank isn't that long. Something like a jewel, miliaris, or dwarf moray would work.
 
In my 75 long, I have a dwarf fuzzy lion, yellow tang, foxface, blue damsel and white ribbon eel. The eel is very small, so it works and the tank does not look over crowded at all. The tang backlashes the foxface with its tail sometimes (I think because they are the same color and size) but the foxface can take it and they usually kind of school together.

If the foxface and tang outgrow the tank, I will put them in my 125 gal., but I have had them for a couple of years now and no real change in size so far.

Ribbon eels are small, but hard to keep cuz they don't eat, however, I don't think that is the case with the unicolor/white/ghost eel like I have. Just about 2 feet long, very thin, very active night and day.

I have a 75g and I have the following
V. lion,huma huma,niger and a luner wrasse o'yea and a snowflake. All are small but the luner and lion and they are med. in size.

yeah, a lunar wrasse will most likely destroy your tank, I think a snow flake is fine in a 60+ gallon tank. I wouldn't do any tangs.
