Need help with ID

I noticed this growing out of one of the live rock in my refugium about a month ago. Is it some type of sponge? I was toying with the idea of moving it to the display but I'm not sure if this thing is harmful or not.

looks like a neat little sponge to me, unless it contracts when touched thats what my money is on.

I agree, looks like a sponge to me too. Cool one at that. Nice coralline growth on the rock too

No, it doesn't contract. My guess was a sponge too. Do you know whether they like high or low light? High or low flow? I was thinking of putting it in the display tank.

sponges don't need any light. They are filter feeders. I would put it in a little cave or something. Some flow is better than a lot for them.

If you decide to move it to your display tank just make sure it doesn't contact air. Sponges and air don't mix. It will kill/damage the sponge. Put it into a plastic bag while still in the refugium then open it under water in the display tank. Looks nice!
