Just recieved my new MSX 200 and Im little bit confused. This is my second skimmer and my first was just a hang on back plug n play. I Have everything together but the mesh pin wheel Im at a loss as to where it goes. I have the pump do I need to take that apart to replace with the mesh mod wheel? If so how do I take apart to replace it?

i take that back I looked on Marine Sloutions website and found very nice videos. But on the bottom of the pump it looks like it should attatch to something else shoudl it? I dont have any more pieces

on the SWC/MSX 200, the pump only attaches the outlet to the skimmer body, other than the air hose that's it.
and most likely the pinwheel is already in place, so you can try that first to compare the mesh wheel to.

well i changed to the mesh mod pinwheel right away... and plugged in the pump and it just makes rattling noise and isnt throwing water in the main chamber of the skimmer

edit... switched back to the pinwheel and it works fine... I think I didnt have the mesh mod snapped in right on the shaft part

The mesh material on the mesh wheel comes over sized so the user can trim it to suit there needs. Try trimming the mesh down but IMO just use the pin wheel. I have had to many start up issues with the mesh wheel.

+1....same issues here. Stay with the pinwheel

Just spoke to "MSX" today about my pump. I also asked about the mesh wheel ,stock pinwheel and the PP. And was told the stock PW draws near 30scfm ,and that is about all the 200 MSX can handle to work optimum.
Mine Is doing good for 2days old.:)

hooked it up with normal pin wheel been running about 6 hrs and no skimmate yet... should I have the pipe open or closed? whats the difference?

Just let it run for about a week or so. There is oil on the skimmer from the manufacturing process. It will take a while before this oil is gone and the skimmer starts performing properly. Then you can play with the wedge pipe to get it adjusted to your system.

Just put mine into operation aswell. I ran it with the stock meshwheel at first and after a day i had start up issues. I changed out the stock vinyl air hose for a more rigid hose and i pulled the meshwheel out and trimmed it down. It is now working amazing without issues.
