Just got a shipment of new corals from swf.com the packaged was delayed a day because of flight cancelations in florida, so it was a 2 day travel time instead of 1 which is not a prob but when i got the plate frag it was a wysiwg and it was a red/ neon green plate frag. When i got it is completly brown with a tiny spec of neon green.

The neon green zoos i bough have already opened up fine within 10 mins.

This is what the actual Wtysiwyg frag and how it is sopose to look

Is this normal? Is it just stressed and will return to color? Or is it DOA? I emailed Swf.com with this pic no reply yet need some insight.

Your pic is quite large so its a bit hard to see, but it doesn't look terrible. Like the above stated keep it in a shaded area for a couple days and I think it will pull through. Plate corals tend do deflate and look quite dead often but they can suprise you.

All time stupidist thing Ive done to a coral

All time stupidist thing Ive done to a coral

Received a plate 2 to 3 wks ago. It was so brown and deflated after shipping that I mistook the bottom for the top and put it in the tank upside down. My wife, who knows nothing about corals, even said to me, "it looks upside down," but I poo pooed that idea. Last week it began losing tissue, and this morning I decided to give up on it and throw it out. As I lifted it up I was amazed that the side facing the bottom of the tank was the same beautiful neon green and purple in the photo when I ordered it. I put it back down (right side up this time) and it took food. Presently still looks good, so Im hopeful of full recovery.

Point being, dont give up on these guys too early.
