Camera size is important and woman generally have smaller hands. Olympus is a great, smaller sized, body that I often recommend over the Canon Rebel series just because of control placement (and I'm a Canon shooter).

The additional benefit is because of it's smaller sensor, lenses for Olympus are smaller and cheaper.

I dunno Doug...have you seen some of the prices on the Oly lenses lately? Getting up there but still very reasonable compared to Nikon or Canon. Good kit prices too.

I agree though regarding size. The Oly's are nice and compact, lightweight, and produce some nice colors (borderline the "fuji greens" IMHO). My wife likes her aging Fuji S2 Pro because of how light it is...she felt the same when she got to hold my cousin's Olympus SLR. Might be a good place to start.

Only thing about Oly's...their lens focal lengths come in some interesting measurements. Maybe because of the 4/3rds system?
