Need help with planning my stand

Hello,

I'm in the very early stages of planning an 11' tank for my home office. I have some questions about the stand. The place that I'm leaning toward for building the tank wants an astronomical price for them to build a stand (the stand is multiple times the cost of the tank).

I've received some quotes, from carpenters, based solely on the dimensions. However, these guys know very little about everything needed in a tank stand (other than supporting the weight). What are some things that I need to make sure i emphasize if I have a third party construct my stand/canopy?

Also, what seems like a reasonable price for a stand for an 11-foot tank?

Thanks!

I would look at contacting a welder and having a steel frame built. Then skin it in wood or whatever you like. This way you have unlimited space underneath for sump and such. Also steel won't warp over time.

Interesting idea.

I feel so overwhelmed coming from a 55 gallon. I don't have a sump with my current system, so the pluming alone is overwhelming. However, I'm taking my time and reading up as I go along.

A steel stand that's powdercoated is a great option and will last forever.
Who is building the tank?
