Need help with plumbing

I have a hose running from my overflow to the sump and want to replace it with pvc. Never done this before and only need a simple set up. What do I need?

just try to keep the 90 elbows at a minimum and use them only where necessary. They really inhibit flow a lot more than you would think. Typically just 1 from the bulkhead to the down pipe.

As far as what you need, that depends on your placement.
You will need PVC primer and PVC cement to glue the pieces together. I got both in a twin pack for like $8 and it's way more than I'll ever need for the tank.

Not too sure what I'm talking about when it comes to bulkheads. I'm only trying to drop it exactly 2 feet below to the sump from the overflow. No horizontal pipng needed and doubt I'll need a 90 degree elbow. Possibly two 45 degree elbows is all I need for direction. But what about cupplers? And ball valves? I have no idea what I'm doing.

Here's a pic

Protip: stay away from the purple primer. Makes an epic mess. The clear pvc cleaner ( in addition to clear pvc cement) is all you need for a water tight bond.

Looks like the current connection to the bulkhead is threaded so you will need a pvc male adapter to thread into the bulkhead on the bottom of your overflow and then just a length of pvc straight down that you will glue into the adapter. When you thread the male adapter into the bulkhead use teflon tape (standard plumbing supply) to wrap around the threads to make a better water tight seal.

no need for valves or couplings. if you do need to change the direction from straight down then just use a couple 45's.

It is a bit hard to see the threads on the existing fitting so I can't tell if they are straight threads or tapered national pipe thread (NPT) which is what all the PVC fitting will have. If you can do it, it may be helpful to take the existing fitting to hardware store if you are not sure.

Aquarium PVC connections are the same as any other. If you're feeling unsure you can watch a few YouTube vids on "how to connect PVC" or look at Home Depot .com for instructionals to get a feel for the process.

The purple works the same. They basically made it so that a plumbing inspector can look at the pipe and know that primer was used. If it's for your fish tank, you know if you used it or not, so it's no big thing.

For your setup, just think about how you want the pipe to run nd go to the hardware store and think of it like a puzzle....just piece together what you need on the floor and then go buy it. Aside from fittings, get the primer, glue, and a way to cut it. A hack saw works fine if you have one.

You do not use the threads on the bulk head to connect to your drain, they are there for the bulk head nut. Usually those type of overflows use 1" pvc unless it a really small nano one that uses 3/4"

+1 ,definitely, and if you want to hard plum your system in I would use a slip to slip bulkhead.
